Sony Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset Elite Edition have been announced. Until recently wireless audio for the Xbox 360 has always required…well…wires. Not so with the PlayStation 3. If there’s one thing Sony did right it was designing their flagship console in such a way that it was compatible with any Bluetooth headset. That said, gamers wanna look like gamers and not all Bluetooth headsets are built the same.

Enter the Sony Pulse Wireless Headset: Elite Edition for the PS3. With an MSRP of around $149 (£90) the Pulse not only boasts the level of audio quality we’ve come to expect from a Sony headset, but it’s also really comfortable. Even on some relatively large heads.

If you’re the kind of gamer that needs to be so immersed in what you’re playing that you need to tune out all other noise, then Sony is looking out for you. The company has just announced a new pair of wireless headphones that will be available this fall. It’s called the  Sony Pulse Wireless Stereo Headset Elite Edition.

Sony promises that the headset will offer higher fidelity speaker drivers for dynamic sound, preset modes to optimize the audio experience, noise-cancelling microphones, and 7.1 virtual surround sound. It also has a feature called BassImpact, which Sony says delivers “an unprecedented level of immersion, while sharpening your perception on the battlefield or anywhere else you play.” The Pulse headset will be available in the fall for $149.99. This isn’t the first time Sony will be launching a PlayStation-branded headset. The company launched an Official PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset last year. This new set doesn’t reference PlayStation in its name but there are PlayStation logos etched into it.

This will give you onscreen information about the headset’s battery level, the sound profile you happen to be using and whether or not your mic is on. As with the Tritton Warhead 7.1 Headset on the Xbox 360, all of this information is made available when you hit the PlayStation button on your controller.
